BMWCA

A Govt registered organisation, registered under the Karnataka Society Act, bearing registration number:

DRB3/SOR/443/2024-2025

We, the Bishnupriya Manipuri (BM) community in Bangalore, began our journey of collective celebration and cultural bonding with the first-ever Sadhu Thakur Utsav in 2006 , held at Ganesh Temple, Koramangala . The following year, in 2007, we celebrated Kaang-Pali at the Army (Para) Community Hall, Modi Garden, RT Nagar . From 2009 onwards , both Sadhu Thakur Utsav and Kaang-Pali were regularly celebrated at Sri Krishna Temple, Koramangala .

The relentless efforts of our Founding Members to co-operate and organize these events in a systematic and dedicated manner paved the way for the formation of a formal association. In 2012 , we officially registered as the Bishnupriya Manipuri Welfare and Cultural Association (BMWCA) , a non-profit socio-cultural organization under the Karnataka Societies Registration Act, 1960. This gave us a structured platform for transparent governance, financial accountability, and consistent community service.

As our community grew, so did our activities. Alongside annual events, social gatherings such as kids’ birthday celebrations, picnics, and informal get-togethers fostered a strong sense of bonding among members. Our growing unity and enthusiasm enabled us to successfully organize and celebrate larger events like Durga Puja and Raas Leela .

In response to the evolving needs of our community and the changing world, BMWCA underwent a major organizational restructuring . We redefined the General Body, Advisory Committee, Executive Committee, and Sub-Committees to improve effectiveness and inclusivity. In 2024 , we re-registered as BMWCA Bangalore under the Karnataka Societies Registration Act, 1960, with updated by-laws aimed at strengthening our governance and outreach.

We are also proud to have introduced several key welfare initiatives , focusing on Education & Career Guidance, Matrimonial Information Services, and Healthcare . These programs are curated with input from subject matter experts and are designed to benefit not only the BM community in Bangalore but also those in Assam, Tripura, Bangladesh, and beyond.

Another continuing highlight has been the visits of esteemed BM personalities , whose presence and interactions have inspired and energized our community.
